What can I expect at my child’s first dental visit?

You want your child’s 1st visit be a “fun” and “positive”experience. This appointment is all about creating an enjoyable introduction to a lifetime of prevention. It’s also an education tool, not just for the child but for the parents as well. As we all know they don’t come with instruction manuals!

The office atmosphere should be calm and warm. For example our “Child Friendly” office was built around a family theme and the children are entertained in the play area enjoying puzzles, books and games. There is a PS and Xbox to entertain children and adolescence.

We start with a “Happy Visit”, to create a bond of trust between child and dentist. At this appointment the dentist will check the teeth for decay and any abnormalities. We then talk with mom or dad about creating good oral hygiene habits. Of course, there’s always lots of praise and a visit to our treasure chest for our little helpers. First visits are followed up with a special surprise that is mailed to the child following the visit!
Now they are on the road to a lifetime of bright smiles!
